Don't give me lip!

Lip care is so essential to a good beauty routine. In my line of work, dry, chapped lips can make or break a photo. But, it also can be annoying and at times, painful. A few easy ways to keep your lips moisturized is by using lip balm.

Lip balm can come in a tube or a tub and most are less than $5.00. (The price increases when purchasing a multi-pack.) When looking for a good lip balm product, find one that is moisturizing and hydrating for your lips.

One of my favorite brands is Burt's Bees. The products are made with natural ingredients, which I love!  They even offer tinted lip balms for those of us who want to moisturize and add a pop of color. The products can be purchased at many different retailers as well as online. My go-to lip balm is Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia. I love the smell, the color and the way it hydrates. Once you find your favorite, remember to apply it regularly, to keep your lips feeling smooth and looking great.

Go get some today!!

Tip of the Week

Starting today and every Sunday on my blog, I will offer a "Tip of the Week." Just little reminders of what you can do to help you skin look its best. My tip for this week is wear sunscreen.

Sunscreen is readily available and in some cases, it may already be in the products you are using. SPF or sun protection factor is a guideline when determining a products ability to prevent sun damage to the skin. Several makeup brands offer products with SPF already included. Many foundations now include SPF and range anywhere from SPF 9 to SPF 50, depending on the brand.

I am a prime example of what happens to your skin when you don't wear sunscreen. Age spots, wrinkles, etc. Years of sunning myself with baby oil was probably not the best option and my skin is now paying the price.

So, if you are going out today, don't forget your sunscreen.

Need a Little Sunshine?

Although it is not officially spring yet, it is certainly feeling like it here in the Northeast. The warm weather has me thinking shorts and flip flops. But if you are like me, you're thinking, "I can't wait to hit the beach and get some sun." Well, if the beach is not in your future just yet, you are in luck!

Limelight by Alcone offers this amazing product called Liquid Sunshine. It is a bronzer that gives your skin, a sun-kissed glow without having to sit in the sun. It can be used on your hands, arms, legs and face. Your skin will look great, like you spent the day at the beach. I used this product last week on a photo shoot and it was just perfect.

So break out those shorts and flip flops and get some Liquid Sunshine!! And if you do venture out to the beach, don't forget SPF!!

Happy New Year!!

What is my plan today? This thought has been on my mind a lot lately. With the start of 2017 upon us, it is hard not to question, what is my plan? I have been very lucky the last few years to have opportunities that others can only imagine, but I really have no plan. Why? I never took the time to really develop a plan, to find out what works and what doesn't, but rather what pays?

Yes, money is great, but in the grand scheme of things, is it where I want to be? This is a tough question to answer...yes, it is where I want to be, but in some ways no. So, starting today, January 12, 2017, I am writing my plan. I am making a list of what is working and where I want to be in 5 years. I love makeup and hopefully, it loves me back. But, I need to put in place things that work, things to help me grow my business and in the end make my customers, clients and me, happy.

Stay tuned for amazing things to come in 2017!!

Sometimes I get in the photo too!

As you know, I am a makeup artist. I am passionate about what I do and I am eager to learn each day about my craft. This passion brings me so much happiness that I cannot begin to explain. What recharges my batteries when I am feeling in a lull (and sometimes stuck...it happens) is NYFW. The energy, the drive and the hardwork that goes into a show is one to be experienced first hand. I have had so many opportunities and have been lucky enough to work with great people and companies at NYFW. Below is an image from the S/S 2017 Berenik show. And yes, the image includes me!
